Bedroom / Kitchen Extension , Broomhill Conservation Area, Sheffield

This scheme was located in the conservation area  of Broomhill. The clients wanted to rationalise  the ground floor layout  at one side of the house to provide a large kitchen diner and snug opening out onto the garden. Upstairs a new bedroom and ensuite was added .

The main part  of the extension was dealt with in a traditional style , with all materials and detailing matching the period property , down to the timber guttering and supports, and sash windows and glazing bars.

The small snug however was faced with a slate fronted wall to give a contemporary feel , tying in with the main the house through the use materials not styling .  A lowered floor level separates this area from the  main kitchen space, and a  large lantern rooflight further defines the space.
